Sally and George Mayer Receive Philanthropy Award
Sally and George Mayer, of Essex, recently received the Distinguished Service to Philanthropy Award from The New England Association for Healthcare Philanthropy. This award recognizes an extraordinary philanthropist in New England who has made significant contributions to a New England health care organization.

The Mayer Center, located in Essex, is named in recognition of Sally and George's generus donation, which helped build the new center. The center opened in late 2022 and provides developmental services to children and adolescents with developmental challenges, including autism. In addition, Sally and George co-chaired a capital fundraising campaign that raised more than $6 million to support the building of Middlesex Health’s Shoreline Medical Center in Westbrook. Middlesex Health Shoreline Medical Center opened in 2014 and provides around-the-clock emergency care, cancer care, diagnostic imaging and many other services.
