Arthroscopic Surgery

Arthroscopic procedures allow the surgeon to evaluate injuries and reconstruct joint and ligaments using minimal incisions. The surgeons of Middlesex Hospital are trained in the most advanced reconstructive arthroscopic techniques of the shoulder, knee, wrist, elbow and ankle. Most arthroscopic techniques are performed on an outpatient basis and utilize the most advanced anesthetic techniques, limiting the use of general anesthesia.

Rotator Cuff Surgery

Several Middlesex Hospital orthopedic surgeons are trained in the repair of rotator cuff injuries, using all arthroscopic techniques. Rotator cuff tears can be repaired using small, specialized instruments and multiple, small incisions. These arthroscopic repair techniques minimize tissue damage, reduce postoperative pain and allow a faster functional recovery.

Joint Replacement Surgery

Our surgeons also offer the most advanced hip, knee, shoulder and ankle replacement options. They perform minimal incision hip replacements, often using an incision less than 3 inches to replace arthritic hips with ceramic, metal or plastic materials. Knee replacement options include 'half knee' or unicondylar replacements, as well as the traditional total knee replacements.

Cartilage Transplantation

Injuries to the cartilage surface of the knee result in severe, long-term consequences. Middlesex Hospital offers several different options of cartilage replacement and even transplantation procedures for the appropriate candidate.
