Lung Ventilation Scans

No preparation is needed for a lung scan.

  • A technologist may work with you on learning to breathe freely.
  • You’ll be placed in front of a gamma camera.
  • You’ll wear a mask so you can inhale a colorless, tasteless isotope.
  • Pictures will be taken of the gamma rays given off by the isotopes you inhale. The procedure takes only a few minutes.
