Gallbladder and Liver Scans

For a liver or gallbladder scan:

  • You’ll be asked to fast for about 4 hours before the exam.
  • You’ll receive an isotope by injection and lie down under a gamma camera.
  • Pictures will be taken over the course of 1 to 4 hours.
