Cancer Survivors Celebration to have 60s and 70s Theme
April 23, 2008
Middlesex Hospital is sponsoring its annual Cancer Survivors Day on Sunday, May 18, 2008, from 12:30 to 3:00 p.m. on the grounds of the Hospital's Cancer Center at 536 Saybrook Road in Middletown.
This year’s theme, "Peace, Love, and Survivorship," will feature the pop culture of the 60s and 70s, including decorations for the event. Guests are encouraged to wear clothing reminiscent of the era and the WsQ band will play selections made famous during those years. There will also be delicious food, raffle prizes and games for children.
This annual gathering celebrates life and honors the courage of all cancer survivors. A cancer survivor is anyone living with a history of cancer – this includes newly diagnosed survivors as well as long-term survivors. Family members (especially children), friends and anyone else who plays an important role in a cancer survivor's life are encouraged to attend.
The formal ceremony will feature remarks by Middlesex Hospital oncologist, Miklos Fogarasi, M.D.; and a survivor and caregiver speaker. A special gift will be given to all survivors who attend. Middlesex Hospital oncologists Drs. Mark Kimmel and James Brown (retired) will be honored for their contributions to the Cancer Center.
The event is free, but registration is requested by calling (860) 358-2062
